2017 ROSE GARDEN RESCUE
Sunday 27th August 2017
Thank you from the Grounds Committee
Thank you to all the wonderful WPS families who came to help at the working bee on Sunday and particularly to Greg Flavel for coordinating the day.
An extra big thank you to Anthony Clarke from Grow Landscape and Design, Cammeray, who provided invaluable time and expertise choosing plants, preparing the Rose Garden and supervising all the planting.
It was a beautiful day for gardening or scootering around the school. The Rose Garden is looking well and truly restored.
Many of the kids did a great job weeding, helping distribute soil and mulch in wheelbarrows, planting, picking up rubbish, keeping the workers fed with cake and refreshed with cold water. All their efforts were rewarded with the lolly hunt!
Thanks to Harry Wilson for helping us get organised. Thank you to the girls and boys for managing the kitchen and “hiding” the lollies.

ABOUT THE GROUNDS COMMITTEE
The Grounds Committee at Willoughby Public School aims to create and maintain a playground that provides a positive, caring, healthy and stimulating environment for WPS children to play and learn in. It has developed a long-range Masterplan in conjunction with a specialist landscape designer, and is steadily implementing this. The Grounds Committee is made up of representatives of the School, and dedicated parents. It is responsible to the School, but reports regularly to the P&C which provides some funding for its activities.
The Grounds Working Bees are a great way to help contribute to your school, particularly if you don’t have time to lend a hand during the working week.
There are one or two Working Bees each year. The aim is to tidy up garden beds, replenish mulch where needed, and plant new plants. These days are a fun and rewarding way to make a contribution to your child’s school. Children are welcome to come along and help, or just to play in the grounds, and a lolly hunt is usually organised at the end of the working bee.
We are always seeking new committee members and working bee organisers. If you are interested in volunteering for any position on the Grounds Committee please contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
